Over the last decade, the issue of global warming has come of age. Every day we see news of some kind of disaster or record temperatures. In the UK this year, 2006, the met office announced record temperatures in July and October. Global warming is now an issue that we must tackle head on.
My name is Andrew, and I am the director of Astral Solutions, For twelve years I worked in the print trade as an engineer, later to become a technical advisor for the UK and Nordic regions. I travelled to Europe quite frequently, and began to see solar panels being installed as standard. It was during this time that I first felt that I wanted to help cut emissions in my own home. I began looking at ways to make a small difference, by installing a condensing boiler and by installing digital heating controls I was able to cut my gas bill by 35%.
Then two years ago, gas prices began to move upwards rather rapidly, we heard that Britain had began importing a small percentage of its gas from Russia for the first time. It fired my enthusiasm even more and I began looking at the possibility of solar hot water heating and decided to start a business installing solar panels.
I left the print trade behind and Astral Solutions was born! I completed the B-PEC training course, joined the Solar Trade Association and the clear skies grant scheme( Now LCBP).
We are now ready to serve the increasing number of like minded individuals who want to make a difference to global warming. Solar panels work, and in the next thirty years will be an important part of cutting carbon emissions.
